Our focus for 2012 – 2013 is…

Habits of Mind

1.     Listening with understanding and empathy:

Understand others! Devoting mental energy to another person’s thoughts and ideas; holding in abeyance one’s own thoughts in order to perceive another’s point of view and emotions.

2.     Thinking Flexibly:

Look at it another way! Being able to change perspectives,generate alternatives, and consider options.

3.     Thinking and Communicating with Clarity and Precision:

Be clear! Striving for accurate communication in bothwritten and oral forms; avoiding over generalizations, distortions, anddeletions.

4.     Questioning and Problem Posing:

How do you know? Having a questioning attitude; knowing what data are needed and developing questioning strategies to produce those data. Finding problems to solve.

Corporal Works of Mercy

  1. Feed the Hungry
  2. Give Drink to the Thirsty
  3. Clothe the Naked
  4. Shelter the Homeless
  5. Visit the Sick
  6. Visit the Imprisoned*
  7. Bury the Dead

*Throughout the month of March, 2nd grade students will offer reflections and prayers on this area during the morning announcements.

Spiritual Works of Mercy

  1. Admonish sinners
  2. Instruct the uniformed
  3. Counsel the doubtful
  4. Comfort the sorrowful
  5. Be patient with those in error
